My experiment with the Febreze in the swamp cooler may not have worked as well as hoped...
approx. 12 hours after putting the initial 1/4-cup of Febreze in the water and now I can not notice the smell of the Febreze at all.
I guess I was wrong when I said in the first post about this that it was a good idea and recommended others try it. I will try adding a larger amount tomorrow, but if it requires much more and adding it more often, then it is not very cost effective at all, considering the price of $7.97 for the bottle.
